Kautz Glacier

Description
The Kautz Glacier offers one of the better fall lines on the south side of Mount Rainier. While the crux is frequently unskiable due to ice, it is quite short - seldom more than approximately 100 ft. The excellent fall line of the upper Kautz Glacier from Point Success to the ice chute is highly recommended. The route puts skiers in excellent position to take advantage of potentially large descents from Columbia Crest or Point Success to Paradise, Nisqually Bridge, or even Longmire.
