Local Relief

From Wikid Steeps

Jump to: navigation, search

The maximum optimal ski descent from a route or peak defines Local Relief as it is being used on Wikid Steeps. The idea is that when conditions are right, one could click into their skis and ski nonstop, with minimal herringbone or kick-and-glide, this vertical relief on the given Mountain or Route. For example, currently 11,401 feet (3,475 m) is listed as the Local Relief for Mount Rainier, which would be the change in elevation from Point Success to Longmire.
