Mount Adams from FR 23.

Synopsis

A mountain of dual personalities, Mount Adams is ascended by the thousands via the moderate South Face. While the much steeper North Face sees far fewer people, it remains a popular climb by the Adams Glacier, NFNWR, and North Ridge of Adams. For the skier, though, unlike the climber, nearly every route should be considered fair game, depending on your appetite. For instance, on the south face there are 5 routes of moderate steepness. These include the White Salmon Glacier, Avalanche Glacier Headwall, Southwest Chutes of Mount Adams, South Face and Mazama Glacier. The north face, on the other hand, has thirteen routes over 40 degrees. If unfamiliar with the routes climb your descent route, but if you are more comfortable, you can access all these routes via the North Ridge. If late June, early July this climb can be done to the summit in tennis shoes, but is not always recommended.
