Synopsis
Among her more than half dozen glaciers and dozen routes, Mount Shuksan emits and air of rugged beauty. Perhaps the most complex non-volcano in Washington, there is little reason to ignore her, even when Mount Baker attempts to steal her thunder. Skiers have long traveled her easiest route, the Sulphide Glacier, while only in recent years have skiers more commonly descended its most classic line, the North Face of Shuksan. Frequently drooled over by skiers from Mount Baker Ski Area, most don't even know its name, even though ski lifts rise up her lower flanks.
